Hidden Tips
Optimizing one’s experience of the great wellness facilities is really the secret to a perfect stay at the hotel. Indoor swimming pool, Turkish steam bath (hammam), and jacuzzi excel as great amenities that will be ideal for relaxing after a day packed with meetings or sightseeing in the Jeddah heat. Allocate some time in your schedule to relax in the spa; it’s an outstanding level of luxury and so very relaxing- something you just don’t expect in a hotel going for this kind of money.
For an evening in Jeddah culture, Al-Balad district Trip should be planned to this city’s outstanding UNESCO World Heritage historic center. It’s a 15-20 minute drive from the hotel. Going just before sunset is a great tip. You can walk through those narrow alleyways between the beautiful old Roshan-style houses, with their ornate wooden balconies viewing the lively souqs as they flicker to life in the evening. Quite magical.
For a classic Jeddah experience, grab a cab to the Jeddah Corniche in the evening to view the incredible King Fahd’s Fountain, the world’s tallest fountain. The fountain usually runs from sundown to midnight, and this spectacular fountain shot up in the air with the night background can really blow one’s mind. The area along the shore is well developed for a comfortable walk and mostly liked by the common local families.
While the hotel’s own restaurant is excellent, you may wish to sample other fare; kindly, explore the fantastic line of upscale and international restaurants at Jeddah Park or at the Jeddah Yacht Club. To get something a little more traditional and genuine, just ask the receptionist at your commodious hotel to suggest his favorite local place for ‘Kabsa’ …classic Saudi dish. That way you get a tasty sample of the local food.
